Office downgrade problem

Hi there
i setup a new user a notebook that had office 2010 pre installed.
the OS is Windows 7
i removed 2010 as he wanted 2007 (big mistake)
once installed non of the accosiations worked correctly and had to be setup manually.
marcos woudl not work and copying tabs from one file to another did not work so i tried a repair and this did not work.
after this i decided to put office 2010 back on to try and correct the problem
we could not open xlsxhtml or xlsx files, i tried to fix the association but it would not let me choose excel from the list.
i logged in as admin and openign the files is not a problem
when the user sees the files on the desktop the icons atre white and do not shows as excel files but now do open as excel files after i removed the extensions form teh registry.
what can i do to fix this problem?

See if you can uninstall all the remnants of Office 2010 and Office 2007. There are other things that come on pre-installed versions (Business Contact Manager, some Visual and SQL bits) that do not remove automatically when uninstalling Office preload. I usually remove these manually and the remnants may be causing issues.

At this point (trying to install Office 2007 before Office 2010 is fully uninstalled), it would probably be best to run the recovery for the notebook and bring it back to factory specifications. Then make a decision about Outlook 2010 and if you still wish to revert to Office 2007, make sure you uninstall all the bits.
