internet connection

I have a Dell latitude D620 running XP.  Oddly I can get wireless but it won't take a signal off the cable on my docking station.  The cable works into my desktop so it's not a matter of the cable not working.  I am assuming I may have switched something off.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

thanks.  Somehow I unistalled the ethernet controller driver.  I have no idea what device is installed.  does this give any idea: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600&SUBSYS_01C21028&REV_02\4&378EDFA4&0&00E2

where would I locate a driver?
There are two ways:

1. XP is good at installing Ethernet drivers, so ask Windows to install it and see if it works.

2. Go to the Dell Support site, put in your Service Tag and download the driver from there.
