OfficeJet L7590, scnner will not work

Windows XP, reformated and reinstalled XP and gave back to user. User tried to install OfficeJet L7590 all-in-one
Prints fine but when you try to use the scan button on the all-in-one it will not scan and you get an error message "No Scanner Option"

I tried to reinstall from this download below, full install and I get an error which then trys to resolve with an update from HP. After update and reboot it still will not scan

How can I completely remove this printer off the PC and install from scratch?

I think the install went wrong because the used plugged in the printer with USB before he ran the install and now I'm in a loop.

Leave it plugged in and go to Control Panel, click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button. You should see the device with an exclamation point. Right-click on it and select Uninstall. Then unplug it from the USB port. Then uninstall the software via Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. This will get it out of the system from both a hardware and software perspective, so you should now be able to install the software first and then connect the device when the software install is finished (or when the installer tells you it's time to connect it). It's possible the scanner itself is faulty. Try making a copy. If that works, the scanner must be working and the problem is in software. If it doesn't work, it will require a technician.

To completely remove it, follow joewinograd's suggestion.

Thanks joewtnograd
I have no exclamation points in the device manager and have tried to uninstall and reinstall with USB unplugged using original CD and a new full download.

hdhondt,
The scanner was working fine before I reformated and reinstalled XP on it.
Install went wrong when the user plugged it in using USB and then ran the CD install.

She also called HP and they were logged in remotely for a couple hours and could not get it to scan or install properly

[Video] Oticon Case Study

Open office environments can create the dynamics for innovation, but they also bring some challenges. With over 1,000 employees in an open office, Oticon needed a solution that would preserve the environment while mitigating disruptive background noises.

Watch how they did it.

Strange that there's no exclamation point, because that's what typically happens when hardware is detected and drivers are not properly installed. When you expand Imaging Devices in the Device Manager, do you see the L7590 in there? For example, here's what mine looks like:
Imaging DevicesIf your L7590 is in there, I still suggest that you uninstall it via right-click>Uninstall (that removes the hardware), then go through the software uninstall/reinstall, this time plugging in the device when it's appropriate. Regards, Joe
