Hi ;
I see that Cisco 3845 is used for E3/T3/100M ethernet deployment, Can it be used for nxT1 or nxE1 with vwic2-2mft cards? I have not seen such a deployment and was sure if the chassic can support wic cards?

    Absolutely, the 3845 has 4 slots in the back that can accommodate the VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1. - Check out the specs and if you look at the 3D model you can see this card is actually pictured in the back of the demo unit. - This shows you that it is compatible and you need to be on at least 12.3(14)T for it to work.

    These are great routers.  Very stable and dependable.

    Thanks for the above information.. I have one more question on cisco 3845... they do not seem to have SM-NM-ADPTR like its counterpart cisco 3945... can yo please explain why?

    No I can't.  My guess is that there was an internal change from the 3845 to the 3945 since it was a successor as opposed to a counterpart.  This change made older parts not fit correctly in the new 3945 so they created the SM-NM-ADPTR.  If you look at some of the available modules they state you need the SM-NM-ADPTR to use it in 2900 and 3900 series routers.

    Again this is an educated guess.  You could probably get a more certain answer on the cisco support forums.

    I think your guess is right, it is an adaptor for NM-1T3/E3 card, this card is used with C3845 and the new chassis would need this adaptor to fit the card.
