VB.Net 2008 Crystal report does not show correctly in development environment

Hi, if I am in vb.net and click on a pre-made crystal report I get garbage instead of the report.  If I run the project, the report shows fine.  I have taken a screen shot so you see what I mean.

Did you import the report in or just include the rpt file?

The VB.Net ide doesn't know how to interpret an rpt file.  You have to import the report into the designer and then save it as a DSR.

Just opened the project as a whole on a different computer...
Ar ethe Crystal components installed on that computer?

THey aren't installed by default

I installed .net 2008 crystal redistributal and .net 4.0
That is for the client machine.  The development machine needs the Crystal install that includes the editor.

mlmcc
is that an installation option available in the vb.net 2008 install.  (I have installed .net 2008 before on another machine with no issue.)
It is an option.  I have not installed VB.Net so I don't know if it an option or separate install.

In VB6 it was a separate install.

.net 2008 proffesional version.  What you stated did not work.  There is something else going on with my machine.  I have exhausted all measures at this point and am using a different computer.

I am sure in most cases what you stated is true, however it is not working for me.  If the moderator would like to give you the credit for the question I am ok with that.

You have helped me in the past with other things and your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
Moderator, the solution mlmmc suggested did not work for me however in usual circumstances it should work.  I will accept his answer as the accepted solution.
If it doesn't work, you should have come back and stated that.  I may have had other ideas or other experts may have stepped in.  They may have bbeen waiting to see if that was the issue.

If my comment is not the solution then you should not accept it but rather respond as such allowing for further comments.
