MS SQL Connection

Hi,

I am trying to connect to a SQL database, my setup is

Microsoft SQL Server express on a vm (on domain)
IP 10.77.15.21
Subnet 255.255.252.0
Gateway 10.77.15.249

Client Machine (off domain)
IP 192.168.3.240
Subnet 255.0.0.0
Gateway 192.168.3.254

I have created a login in SQL server management studio (windows authentication)

Can I create a connection if they are not on the same domain?

You can't use Windows Authentication without either being on the same machine or being in an AD domain.  You have to enable TCP/IP connections and create a user on that database that is allowed to connect that way using SQL Authentication.  You also have to allow external access thru your firewalls and all that too.

I'm not sure if a specific version of sql server is required but if you create a local windows user of the same name on client and server and with the same password, windows will authenticate the login as trusted.
