MRT_DEL_MFC error reported in DD-WRT syslog

hi DD-WRT experts!

i notice the following error frequently appearing in the syslog of my Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) mini.

<12>Sep  2 17:17:41 igmpproxy[794]: MRT_DEL_MFC; Errno(2): No such file or directory
 in 2-Sep 17:17:37.70 from 192.168.1.1

what does it mean and any suggestions if actions are required?

kind regards,
bbao

i believe the above error, as well as the two messages below, are related to multicast on the WAN interface. once the Filter Multicast option against WAN, the error and messages are gone.

<15>Sep  2 19:18:30 kernel: vlan1: del 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa mcast address from master interface
 in 2-Sep 19:18:27.3 from 192.168.1.1
<15>Sep  2 19:20:31 kernel: vlan1: add 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa mcast address to master interface
 in 2-Sep 19:20:27.81 from 192.168.1.1

any comments??

Have you tried the Std version instead of mini?
With the 4MB Flash WRT54G v1.x's have, it should fit easily.

Eko's builds are recommended for older WRT54G's, rather than Brainslayer's, as the build you're using is one of the last in which Brainslayer provided Vint driver support.

e.g.
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24_TNG/svn13491-snow/VINT/dd-wrt.v24-13491_VINT_std-nokaid.bin
or, if you *need* the KAI gaming console daemon,
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24_TNG/svn13491-snow/VINT/dd-wrt.v24-13491_VINT_std.bin

Eko's 13491 is a recommended build for routers that require the Vint wireless drivers, according to the Peacock Thread.

Note also, Eko's and Brainslayer's feature sets and build numbers diverged back in the 12000 series builds.

Check the corerev to see if you *need* the Vint builds; corerev=4  or less should use Vint.
On the Administration tab, Commands subtab, paste in
nvram get wl0_corerev
Then click Run Commands and it should return a number.
Like soDD-WRT corerev query response

hi Darr247

my Linksys WRT54G is v1.1 and its "nvram get wl0_corerev" result is "5".

the reason i chose MINI was for performance, as i observed a significant latency difference between STD and MINI on my WRT54G on my network.

BTW, would you please have a look at my another question regarding the same router?

thanks heaps,

From the Peacock Thread:
EKO has stated this:

NEWD won't work only on corerev=4 radios. You can run it on 5 and 7, just virtual wireless interfaces won't work in AP mode. All the rest work.

So you can use NEWD on wl0 corerev=5, but virtual interfaces won't work, ergo you can't make Repeater mode work, because DD-WRT requres a virtual wireless interface with a different SSID than the main station, to operate as a repeater. That may not matter for your purposes, but it's something to be aware of if at some point in the future you can't make the Repeater modes work.

still no idea about why "MRT_DEL_MFC" and "No such file or directory" are related to multicast from mast interface (WAN??)...

any clues please?

The message is from igmpproxy (whose .conf file is in the /tmp subdir).

http://sourceforge.net/projects/igmpproxy/ - is a multicast proxy server.
