Having errors when installing Quickbooks Enterprise 12.0

I'm trying to install Quickbooks Enterprise v12.0 on a Windows 2008 Standard server and an XP Pro workstation. The server will hold the data and the workstation will be a client.

Both workstations are giving me the same errors when trying to install and I believe they are Windows issues, not necessarily QBooks. The installation is failing when installing MSMXL 4.0 and the Visual C++ component.

When installing MSXML 4.0:  an error occurred during the installation of assembly component [303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6-88EEBDB ]  HRESULT: 0x80070005.

I've done the following on the 2008 server:
1) run the setup.exe as an administrator
2) downloaded and tried installing MSXML 4.0 & VBScript as separate downloads from Microsoft's website.
3) installed .net Framework 3.5 SP1

I've looked through several forums online and nobody has a resolution.

Thanks,
Jim

run 'sfc \scannow' from the command prompt.

Thanks pgm554,

I ran through both of your suggested links.  MSMXL would not install without the  HRESULT: 0x80070005 error.

I ran the QBooks fix tool and it's now erroring when trying to install VC9:  Error 1935. an error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC90.ATL, version="9.0.30729.a", publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture="x86", type="win32". HRESULT: 0x80070005.

Jeffiepoo, I'll try running sfc and let you know the results.

Thanks,
Jim
Jeffiepoo, ran "sfc"...  "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations"
Uninstall the .net framework using this tool and reinstall .net

http://www.aboutonlinetips.com/repair-remove-and-uninstall-net-framework/
which versions of .net Framework does QBooks Enterprise v12 need  1.1? 2? 3? 3.5? 4?
ran the .net framework tool and uninstalled ALL framework products.  installed 4.0 from the QBooks install CD, Third Party\DotNET40\dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe

got this error: .NET Framework 4 has not been installed because: Fatal error during installation. For more information, see the log file.  Here is the Log file contents:

You might want to run ccleaner too.
I ran CCleaner and did everything recommended on this posting. I truly appreciate it. BUT still cannot install Quickbooks.
i ran the QuickbooksInstallerDiagnosticTool.exe.  It repaired the .net Framework 3.5 & 4.0, started the Quickbooks install but it's still failing when trying to install:  msdia90.dll.

Error 1935. an error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft.VC90.ATL, version=9.0.30729.1 HRESULT: 0x80070005.

Can anyone help me get past this?  I'm installing QBooks on a Server 2008 and it's only hosting the data file, I'm not trying to get QBooks installed on the server, just host the data file.

Is there a switch that will bypass all the initial components and just the files necessary to host the data file?

Many thanks,
Jim
the other error message is: Error installing z:\\thirdparty\crt9\vc_red.msi  MSI returned 1603: Fatal error during installation.
So you've tried the server and db install and now are trying the db only install?
I never did the server/db install, just the db install.   what are your thoughts?
Any install or updates to .net Framework 3.5, I'm getting errors:

Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 -- Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.21022.8",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070005. assembly interface: IAssemblyCache, function: CreateAssemblyCacheItem, component: {B708EB72-AA82-3EB7-8BB0-D845BA35C93D}

does QBooks use .net 3.5?

same frickin error!!!

Error installing crt9\vc_red.msi  MSI returned 1603: fatal error during installation.

doesn't anyone have a resolution to this?????????????
Last thing before I say reformat and install,

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14668

Just to make sure, you are running the install as admin, right?
I'll download and run it...   the server is 2008 Standard, not R2 and not 64 bit.  let me know if this won't run this before i download it.. .it's a 340 MB file.

yes, i am running as administrator.

thanks!
I downloaded and installed it... what next?   no icons on the desktop or in Programs.  or is it done?
if it installed and ran itself...   same result...   I ran the QBooks install.. errors out at the vc_red.msi install every time.
z:\\thirdparty\crt9\vc_red.msi

What's the install path of QB?

It may be looking for that file in the wrong place and you may have to browse to it on the install disk.
I tried installing Adobe Reader on this server and got the same error as when trying to install Quickbooks, so it's definitely an O/S problem and will prolly need to reinstall the O/S, which I didn't want to do.  Oh well, thanks for all the help!
