Having 2 instances of Sage on a single pc

Hi Experts,
My customers network is Server 2008 with 20 workstations,
My customer is upgrading their sage line 50 to the new SQL based version. They have 2x companies within Sage Line 50.
they would love the ability to have 2 instances of the 2 companies working side by side.
I Just wondered what type of setup we should be considering?
May be best if it based locally, so I am guessing a secondary server?
Maybe when their connectivity is better they could run the sage application offsite.
Any advice appreciated.

There is no new SQL version of Sage Line 50, perhaps you are talking about Sage 50US ?

In Sage 50, the desktop prevents more than one instance of the application runing on a desktop.  If you want 2 copies running "side-by-side" you can do this by having

2 PC's side by side

by using remote desktop/terminal services etc to another instance

by having a virtual machine on the pc

QuickBooks allows you to run two different versions to run two different databases. Depending on overall load you can maintain the databases on the same server. Large databases and/or large numbers of users would benefit from separate servers. You have the latter situation at least.

I expect you can run two versions of Sage but I don't know for certain.

This is a client server application and may not work well remotely or offsite. Consider terminal server for this.
