Good evening experts

I have some problems with a server. It seems that the / partition is full, crashed and won't boot anymore, I guess it's because of no space available. it's a lvm under root as far as the admin told me. Is there any way to revive it so I could free some space?? It's urgent, really

Boot from an installation disk. Mount a USB drive. Move some files off the full partition. Reboot.

The server is under a mainframe, so, there's no usb drive.

What I did is virtually attached the disks (4 disks with root LVM) under another virtual server. How do I mount a (root LVM under another server)? Please

    Accepted Solution

(to see if the physical disks are detected on the alt system.)

    vgimport "vgname"
    (to import the VG.
    example: vgimport myvg )

    vgchange -ay "vgname"
    (to activate the LV
    example: vgchange -ay myvg)

mount the required LV on /mnt and clean-up data.

You could try and boot from parted magic(linux based) iso disc and manually delete unnessary files so that there are some free space left to do a normal boot sucessfully.
Parted magic is like a linux live disc/rescue disc that is bootable.

    all da best
