Default service pathces from WSUS to workstation

After deploying the service patches from WSUS to the workstation, can the client install the patches if they don't have local administrator right on the workstation ?

What WSUS version you are using?

As others suggested , you dont need administrator access to install the patches from the WSUS console.

Only thing you need to make sure is to , define correct Group policy to point all the client systems to the WSUS from patches.

Once this is done,  client computer will look for any pending patches from WSUS and install them automaticallly.

Note - If you are using WSUS version 3.2.7600.226 you need to make sure the client WUAgent version is - 7.4.7600.226 , If they have the latest version -7.6.7600.256 , they will fail to look for updates and in Windowsupdate.logs you will get below error message
"Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800b0001"

Or , You can update your WSUS server,  Refer below KB

Hope this information helps.

When you are using WSUS then user does not have to do it but if you wish, you may enable that feature in WSUS GPO and user may click on update shield in task bar to initialize updates installation

You need to configure auto update policy and then you may use this one to allow non-administative users installing updates
Allow non-administrators to receive update notifications
