Excel VSTO - ODBC or ADO connection to a SQL server database table

I am creating an Excel Add-in where I want a user to be able to add or edit a record for a
SQL database. I want to use one of the Excel sheets as a "live" connection to the database
and then add a record by adding a new row or edit a record by editing cells.
How would I create such a connection using VB.net code?
