Is HP system-specific memory compatible with other servers?

Is HP Proliant server system-specific memory, such as this...
(note the warning about single vs double rank memory in the description)

...compatible with a generic motherboard such as the Intel S5000PSL, that expects to accept the same type of memory? For example:

From the eBay articles you can probably guess what I'm trying to do here... find some cheap extra memory to put into a cheap second hand server I'm planning on buying.

    Yes, it's normal RAM but HP have "qualified" it so it has their part number on it. Thet re-test generic RAM to make sure that it is not only suitable for any old server but for their specific one.

    Any of  PC2-5300 ECC RAM will support this model.
