Profile won't pull over correctly on server 2003 domain
We have a domain span over 7 different locations all using MPLS for the network. Randomly a profile will log on but not pull two group policies that redirect the desktop, start menu, documents. The other group policy is privileges the user has like no right click or access to adding/deleting printers. When neither of these work they just get the local user's desktop and folders. When it does fail though, it only fails for that user on that computer not all users on that computer which is what I can't figure out.
Are there any event logs or other messages associated with these failures? ...RG

Whenever I log on on any account it says the group policy fails error 1058 but other profiles pull over the folders/privileges regardless
Is there any issues with Active Directory synchronisation in the event logs, more specifically any Directory service log errors or File replication log errors?....
If you try gpupdate /force?
Does the error (in logs) appear again?
If you try to delete win user profile on that PC and create it again?

I try to gpupdate /force and 2 Group policies fail giving me event id 1058. These could be the 2 Group policies that do what isn't being done. But if they aren't applying why do other users work?
maybe it is applied only for that one user? I do not know how the GPO is set, maybe somehow that only this one user is affected wrong way?
If you e.g. try to move user to different OU (just a test) and create new GPO for him and apply on OU?

I looked into the event viewer error he is getting event 1058 error code 1396 logon failure: the target name is incorrect. This is the Group policy that does the all the redirection. What could be causing it to fail?

I'm getting an error that's different than that. It's giving me a DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure, when I run Repadmin /showreps. Result 8524 and another 2 that say result 1256. I don't know if this helps you but not the result that your article says I should get.
