No internet access

I have a Dell XPS/15Z laptop running Windows 7 64-bit o/s with 8 gb of memory.  Both the wired and wireless connections appear to connect, but then there is no internet access.

In addition to the above, try to reset TCP/IP

Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator and type netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.log

Restart and see if that helps.

Also, scan thoroughly for viruses as malware can stop an internet connection. One way is to put entries in the hosts file. Look in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts . There should only be comments in this file.

Start off with the basics.... make sure TCP/IP is working along with DNS.

Try the following:
ipconfig /all

and post the results here.  That will tell a lot.
