Server 2008 remote desktop connection inbound timeout

Hey guys,
I have a windows 2008 server and i have just recently updated my modem to a Netgear DGN2200m and i am now having trouble with the remote desktop connection. i have setup the port forwarding in the modem and have tested the port with a port tester and it says that the port is open. i have also tested the port from a remote location and it also says that the port is open, but when i try to connect to it the connection just times out. I have also checked the server and have made sure that the ip address that i am forwarding to is correct and that it is set to a static ip address. i also have checked that the remote settings are enabled from any version of remote desktop, and have also turned off the windows firewall and there is no third party anti virus/firewall running on this system. i should mention that i can connect to this system when i try to connect through the local network, i have also made exceptions in the firewall list for the programs and the port i am using and i am logged in under the administrator.

Thanks for the response, i have erased the port connection setting and made a new one and tried that but to no luck. i have also tried factory reset on the modem and started from scratch but i get the same problem i will try it again to see if it helps.

Thanks,

Hey Guys,

Still working on the problem. Thanks for all of your help, no solutions found yet.  Will continue to try to work it out with other resources (Technet, etc)

Thanks again,
