SSAS OLAP Cube from one source table - Avoid Missing Attribute Error

Posted on 2012-09-03

I was able to successfully deploy and process an SSAS OLAP cube from one source table. This did not require a Dim or Fact table defined.

However, in the subsequent processing I encountered this error:
"Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing: ..."

What should I do to prevent missing attribute key?

Even though you have a single source table, you still have dimensions, correct? I believe it's telling you that a new dimension value has shown up and a processing of your cube uses one of the new values, but the formalized dimension isn't aware of the new value.

This has happened to us when we do an incremental processing of our cubes - switching the automated processing from incremental to full resolved the issue, as it processes all the dimensions first, before proceeding to processing the facts.
