Mysteriosly Increasing Line Returns in Google Docs

I often create "To Do" lists in Google Docs. Normally, I hit the Return key twice after each item so that I have 1 line blank in between.

Occasionally I will go back to a document a few days later and suddenly there are 2 blank lines in between each item instead of the single one I entered. And if I go back a couple days after that, then there are 4 blank lines. And so on and so on! I then I have manually go through the entire list and remove all the extra carriage returns, which is extremely annoying and a waste of time.

This does not happen to all my Google documents, but it happens often enough that it's really frustrating me. I haven't been able to figure out any specific pattern as to which documents get affected. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I should add that I occasionally view my docs on my Android phone via the GDocs app. However, I'm pretty sure this problem has occurred with docs that I have only viewed on my Chrome browser on my MacBook laptop.

Thanks in advance.

Just using the default "Normal Text" style.

Interesting suggestion about the revision history. I wasn't even aware of it. I was able to go back and view some earlier revisions of documents that were "screwed up" with the unwanted extra spacing.
I'm going to suggest opening a ticket with Google.

I cannot reproduce the problem.

In parallel, I suggest:
Check to make sure your browser is running a supported revision and is current with updates
Check the default "encoding" setting in your browser; you may be converting CR's to CR+LF in error

Regards,
Allen
Running current Chrome browser...Version 21.0.1180.89

Encoding is set to Unicode (UTF-8) but I can't imagine this would be causing intermittent problems with only some documents.
If the encoding was not set or was set to something unusual, it could be an issue.  You are pretty vanilla in your version/settings.

Let me talk to my support team and see if they have seen this before.
Allen, I don't see where to open a support ticket with Google. Do you have a link?
If you have admin rights, from the inbox, click on the gear and select "Manage this Domain"

Once in the cPanel, click on Support.  You will see your customer and support PINs (you need both), the toll free number, and a link to the submission form.
This is just a regular Gmail account, not Google Apps. When I click on gear icon, I can see a "Manage apps", but not "Manage this Domain."
If you are running the free version of Gmail, you do not have support options other than the forums.
OK. Thanks.
