I have a 2008 server, a juniper firewall and Uverse ATT modem.

All PC's can connect to the internet as long as I put the ATT DNS settings in the config. If I put the DNS server IP address in for DNS it doesn't work.
I have the correct DNS server IP address settings on the 2008 Server and on the firewall.
If I put the ATT DNS manually in the network config on the server it doesn't work either.
I'm not sure how the PC's are working and the Server is not working?

on the server dns manager you have to add forwarders for domains it doesn't know about or use root hints.
dns forwarders
you can put in your isp's dns servers here as well

Yes Put the ISP DNS addresses in Forwarders tab of DNS Server Console.

On Windows 2008 Server and Windows 7 Desktops Network Configuration put the Primary DNS Server address as Local Static IP address of Windows2008 server.

So it speedup the internet speed also coz it cache all the site data @ your Internal Dns Server.

i figured out the issue, there was actually a mapped IP address on the firewall to an old ISP number that was going to the DNS servers internal IP. once I removed that mapped IP address it worked.
