Removing current text from page

Hi, I have a number of pages in one site that they want to clean up a bit. I'm all in favor of that, but I'm worried that taking away the old text and adding a shorter version will affect my SEO.

My suggestion is to keep all the old text under a <HR> and put the new bullet-point text above that. Am I ok to remove all the old text as they ask and just add a few bullet points? Thanks.

In your Analytics or Webmaster Tools see what search terms cause visitors to that page.

Will the change means those terms will get removed from the content? If so, you will no longer get the traffic the term was attracting.

This may give you a case to keep the content (or not).

Anther risk is that the shorter content will get deemed thin and not worthy of attracting any traffic.
