Sending a delayed email without Outlook Open

I have a user that wants to send an email at a partiular time in the evening without having Outlook 2010 open. Is that possibile? I tested this using the delivery options feature and I had to have Outlook open for it to work.
Thanks

It is possible. You can use a scripted email tool such as mailsend where you can write a bat file and set a scheduled task to run the file at a set time.

This link has a good explanation of how this works:

Is there a functionality in exchange web service(EWS) to schedule email delivery?

Delayed Mail Option in Outlook is a Client Side Option

Just like using Client Side Rules in OUtlook, outlook MUST remain open to run them.

As above there are, options that could allow the user to use a bat file to send an email at a specific time without outlook being open.

However, I have a feeling the reason the mail item is being sent without outlook open, may be becuase the user would also like to have their computer turned off?

If this is the case, Bat File or Outlook Delayed Send the Computer will need to be turned on.
If the computer is going to be on, during the period of the delayed send....

May as well have outlook open and minimized
