IP Phones rebooting and not powering up
Hi -
I cannot get my procurve 2910al switch to keep delivering power to our phones. They power up for about 1 second, and then reboot. I keep getting this error in the procurve switch log:
PD Over Current indication
There is plenty of power available.
Running this version of firmware code W.15.08.0012 and here is how much power is available:
sho power
Status and Counters - System Power Status
Pre-standard Detect : On
Operational Status : On
Usage Threshold (%) : 80
Chassis power-over-ethernet:
Total Available Power : 382 W
Total Failover Power : 0 W
Total used Power : 34 W +/- 6W
Total Remaining Power : 348 W
Internal Power
1 382W/POE+ /Connected.
External Power
EPS1 /Not Connected.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Can you please be more specific? What should I check?

I am also seeing this in the log:
PD Denied power due to insufficient
power allocation
PD Denied power due to insufficient

PD over current indication.
Indicates that an attached load has attempted to draw too much current from the switch – the customer should check the powered device attached to the indicated port for malfunction
power denied due to insufficient power allocation.
Indicates that an 802.3af compliant load was detected but could not be powered up because the switch has exceeded its power allocation – the customer should add additional power to the switch with an additional or larger power supply, or remove other powered devices that are not needed.

Here is the latest. Our Mitel 5320 phones all have the gig stands to provide gigabit network connectivity to our desktops. The gig stands work fine with the higher end procurve switches (5406zl, 3500yl) but on the 2910al, they do not. If we remove the gig stand from the phone, the phones work perfectly, only at 10/100 speeds instead of 10/100/1000. If I hard code the switch ports to auto-100, the phones boot fine as well.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks again!
