Trying to get a First Generation Ipad to connect using VGA and HDMI Adapter.

I work at a school and a teacher brought in her Ipad 1 to use with her projector and HDTV.  She bought the VGA adapter cable and also a HDMI adapter.

Neither one works unless I go into this one app that is pretty useless.  I see there are apps that let you browse the web while outputting to and external display, but she wants to display learning games for her students.  Really need something that sends apps to the projector or tv.

I plugged in my IPAD 3 and it works fine, I don't have to do anything so I know it's something with the IPAD 1 functionality.

Anyone find a good way to use the IPAD 1 in this way with apps?

Thanks!

Matt

You should notice that not all applications support external display. It's up to the developer to spend his time to bring external display support to his application. So do not expect external display support from every application. If you don't see the output thats probably because the app just does not support it.

But if you can jailbreak the device you can install a tweak named mirrordisplay which mirrors everything on device's screen to the external display hence you can get output from even those apps which do not support external display.

Most of the apps that don't work on the IPAD 1 with external display do work on the Ipad 3.  I'm not sure if the App was updated or it's just the Ipad 3...  I doubt the teacher would want to jailbreak her Ipad.

Here's a thread on the differences between the ipad and ipad2, with regard to external displays: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,1122816,1123065  It sounds like the apps need to support external video, as Programmer-x said.

Split between http:#a38365824 and http:#a38367952, since I provided the the link describing how the ipad and ipad2 are connected to display devices.  It was not a copy of Programmer-x's comment, and I gave him the credit for his recommendation.
