How do I delete old backups from Windows Server Backup 2008?

I am doing a daily VSS Full Backup to a volume every day.  There are currently 9 backups on the volume and the disk is full.  From what I read Windows is supposed to automatically delete backups once the drive is full.  This obviously isn't happening.  Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?  Thanks!

    Yes, that should happen automatically.

You could use wbadmin to verify the status and delete a systemstate backup

Thanks.  I deleted the scheduled backup and readded it.  When I went to readd it, it said it would use 116 GB.  I only had 100.  I think that is why it was failing, the actual backup was larger than the drive.
