How to disable web.config Inheritance for Child Applications in Subfolders in ASP.NET?

OK, so I have a website  (
I have three children applications that need to run on it. (app1, app2, app3)

app1 and app2 run fine because they inherit from the's web.config, but app3 has its own web config, and yet it needs to be ran as

I have tried the <location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false"> thing and that made my app3 work great! Only trouble was - my app1 and app2 stopped working.

How can I set up my root web config in such way where my app1 and app2 still inherit from root, and app3 does not.

Please provide a code example, and be specific as to where exactly I should place the code.

Thank you much in advance - it is very important!

I have tried it all from that file. Maybe I am not placing it in the right place in the root web.config, but nothing seems to work. Can you please tell me, using and app1, app2, app3 applications, how exactly and what lines and where in the root web.config file should be placed. I cannot solve this problem, and everyone seems to throw me a link with an article that doesn't help. Please help me.
