can you setup a rule in exhcnage 2003 / outlook 2007 to forward email with .wav extensions from inbox to another mailbox

I have a client who has asked, they recently had a voip solution put in, the .wav file lookes to be coming from this system, its sbs 2003

The .wav files are not being generated by the SBS 2003, but rather the VOIP system itself which will certainly have the ability to send messages to any mailbox you like.  

Just change the configuration in the VOIP system's user profile.

we are not the voip provider, i can note this to the client but still need to answer the question as to whether i can setup a server side rule in sbs 2003 to forward .wav file attachemts from inbox to another

As far as I know there isn't an easy way to create a server-side rule to forward messages with a specific attachment type.

The truth is that you probably wouldn't want to create such a rule... while it is not common, anyone could send an email with a .wav attachment so how would you know to forward only the ones from the VOIP system.  

Therefore, it would make sense to make the criteria used for selecting messages to forward to be WHERE the message came from rather than its content.

This is easily done in Outlook.
