TDMService error 7000

On a Win7/64 machine I just started getting a 7000 error on startups: "The TdmService service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Details:- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

Malwarebytes shows no malware. I have only one instance of tdmservice.exe on the machine and and it's at C:\Program Files\Wave Systems Corps\Trusted Drive Manager. I see the service listed under services, but there is no description of it. Startup type is automatic.

Can you tell me what's causing the error, what is TDMService.exe? Do I need this service? How do I stop the errors. There's little on the WEB about this except in ads for fix-it programs.

It looks like it is this:

It says it is a legacy product, so maybe it does not want to be on your Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Thanks TU. The link led me to other sources. TDM Service is clearly involved only with drive encryption, which would be useful in shared laptops or public terminals. I have a Dell 980, a machine found in large institutional environments, so maybe that's why it's on the HD. I can find only one reference that says it's a windows system file, but that's wrong. I figure I had two choices: uninstall the WAVE software and with it the service, or simply disable the service, which is what I did.
