Exchange Signature Embedded Image Issue from iPad Emails

We have a client using the iPad Mail App to send emails. His account is an Exchange account which is hosted on their company Exchange 2010 mail server.

We currently have a transport rule in place to add a HTML email signature to all outgoing email messages which includes hosted images.

The signature displays perfectly when being sent from Microsoft Outlook but as soon as you send from the iPad the images in the signature appear to be stripped and the URL displayed in square brackets.

e.g. []

Has anyone seen this issue before and is there a solution?

    Accepted Solution

I believe that this is because messages generated on an iDevice are created as Plain Text not HTML, so the signature will not look pretty as a result.

Replies to HTML emails will be sent as HTML but not new emails.

You are correct, the default Apple Mail application on the device does send in plain text. I found an unofficial Microsoft Outlook App which sends in HTML and resolved my problem.

    Thanks for your advise.
