Gmail sent items duplicated in OUtlook 2010

Hi,

A client of mine is having a strange issue where his Gmail sent items duplicate in his Sent Items in Outlook 2010. His Gmail is set up via IMAP and weirdly enough it doesn't affect all his sent items but roughly every third one.

I've ruled out a local issue as it does this on two laptops with Outlook 2010 even after a clean re-install.

I've trawled Google and attempted all the fixes like specifying Gmail not to save sent items in OUtlook as per: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/526 but it still persists.

Has anyone seen this before and been able to resolve? Thanks.

The only times I have seen this it has been resolved by making sure OUTLOOK is NOT saving copies of sent messages on all of the computers the client is using.  I know you said you used the instructions in the link above but I would verify that it is actually set on both computers where the client is using outlook.

Finally, I'd confirm the client isn't using Outlook on any other computers (unlikely as you would likely be the one to set it up).  Barring that, I would begin looking for a pattern, i.e. do only sent items from one computer show up twice?  Are there any rules setup that may be forcing the system to place a copy of the sent item in the sent items folder?

Yes, I've also resolved this before by that method but this user only uses two laptops and the settings are correct on them both. There are also no rules in place so i'll just have to hang on and see if anyone else has seen this before. Thanks for your input.
