Vmware 5 and VNX5300 - Should i use Iscsi og NFS to connect?

Hi

I’m setting up a VMware 5 solution with 4 hosts and will be connecting them to an EMC VNX5300.
The VMware will be running a mix of windows and linux Vm's

I have no special preferences for either NFS or Iscsi and am trying to decide which to use to connect to 2.
Do anyone have a similar setup and if are you then using NFS or Iscsi?
And can someone point me in the right direction to where I can find some "best practice" about this?

Thanks in advance!

if using NFS or iSCSI I would recommend using Jumbo Frames.

See my EE Article

HOW TO: Enable Jumbo Frames on a VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi 5.0) host server using the VMware vSphere Client

see my EE Articles on setting up iSCSI, Best Practice

HOW TO: Add an iSCSI Software Adaptor and Create an iSCSI Multipath Network in VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 4.1

HOW TO: Add an iSCSI Software Adaptor and Create an iSCSI Multipath Network in VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESXi 5.0

We use both technologies, both have advantages and disadvantages.

Have you tested performance using both from your SAN?

I believe that on the VNX if you go with NFS you can use VAAVI..can't do that with iSCSI

In our case its iSCSI, for others it might be NFS/CIFS or even FC.
