Moving mails from one inbox to another inbox exchange 2007/outlook 2010

Hi

We have  Exchange 2007 and outlook 2010. We have user called Adavid. She is now married and now  her name is  AJames .So she has asked to change her login name and create a new mail ID as ajames@domain.local.

I can create her new account in the AD and mailbox in the exchange. Is there a way to move all her old mails from  Adavid to Ajames.

Thanks

Why create a new mailbox and user account? Just change the logon name, display name and Exchange alias for the same AD account.

Best idea is ofcourse renaming as suggested by @ajxuk

But if you dont want to rename then just download the PST from server and then attach to her account so that she can copy/move mails.. and forward old email account to new email account...

I would say if you have created a New account simply Export the Mailbox from "Adavid" and Import into "AJames" ... if you dont want to proceed with renaming and stuff.

Renaming has consequences.
It will break a lot of internal things that can cause problems - all old emails will not work, address book will be invalid for up to 48 hours, nicknames will be wrong etc etc.

The best option is a completely new account, then do a forward.
Another option is rename everything BUT the alias. So change the login, display name etc. I my experience I find that newlyweds don't mind seeing their old name in a few places. It is the divorced ones that cause the headaches and want all evidence removed.

Simon.

Use the archive function from within Outlook File > Archive. The options are self explanatory but this won't export contacts, move those manually to the pst it creates. You could also use the powershell from a 32 bit client with the Exchange admin tools installed: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/exchange-2007-sp1-mailbox-management-part1.html

I'd still be in favour of just renaming the users login credentials even though it's not the Microsoft recommended I've done it across multiple sites with minimal issues (the replying to old emails is the main issue here).

I created  a AJames user account and mailbox in the exchange . I logged in as ajames and added second mail box of Adavid in outlook with full permissions .
if i move the mails to the corresponding folders. Will this cause any problems.

No issues but what is the size of mailbox of "Adavid" ..... anyways i would have done from Exchange but even from the way your doing no issues should happen ..... just few things

What was users earlier email address ?
What is the new email address ?
What if someone replies to old emails ? how do you plan to take care of this ?? (you need to add Adavid's email address to AJames)
You might also need to add X500 on AJames for Adavid for old emails.

this is few points in can think and should be taken care of :)
