Is IE8 Multi Threaded?

Im doing some testing on IE8 for a client where an application processes a huge about of Vector Drawing and grinds IE8 to a halt for 20mins. No problems with this but when its busy i check process monitor and its stuck at 25% (I am using a quad core machine to test)
I have checked the affinity and all cores are checked so i assume IE8 does not take advantage of multi core machines?

Can someone who knows more than me please confirm if this is the case?

IE8 is not...

IE9's major feature is the new JavaScript engine Chakra, which delivers some impressive performance gains over Internet Explorer 8. It's multithreaded; one thread will run the script in realtime, while another thread compiles and optimises it in the background.

IE9 also makes use of GPU assisted page rendering...
Each plugin, addon and tab runs its own thread (plus one for the browser window itself) but there aren't multiple threads per browser tab.

Thanks for the input guys, just to clarify. Im running the app in one tab

Im testing multiple browsers
IE8                    25% CPU
IE9                    25% - 30% CPU
FF 3.6.1            25% - 30% CPU
FF 10.0.2          25% - 30% CPU

It seems like the later 3 browsers all max out their Javascript thread at 25% and then the Browser thread uses up a few % too.
