Recover Backup Exec D2D Files

I have an external hard disk with the D2D backups from backup exec. The server that this drive was originally attached too is not currently functional and i don't currently have access too it.

How can i restore from these.

1) i've tried installing backup exec, however it won't install onto Windows 7 and i don't have access to a server OS to install it on temporarily.

2) i've downloaded the recovery cd which was useless. It found every single USB drive except the one with the bkf files on it, and all it was looking for was a DR file to restore the current computer.

I've tried using ntBackup in XP but it can only open one file at a time, but because it's D2D backup files the data is spread over 30-40 files.

I have restored using windows7 backup as I was not having a free server for restoring.
First you catalog the .bkf files then restore.

But what I suggest is to install a VM then install BackupExec and restore.

    Accepted Solution

Please find the attachment for cataloging the files. Will take too much time to catalog

I strongly suggest is to install a server (VM) ->install BE ->catalog the files -> restore
as you might miss some files when restoring from windows7

Ended up imaging the server with shadow protect. But i'll give you the points anyway.
