Client has fax service installed on Windows Server. The fax system has been set-up so that when a fax comes in does the follwoing:

1.) Sends the fax as a .tiff attachment to an assigned email
2.) Simultaneously printed on a local laser printer

If that system fails then it sends the fax to the fax machine.

Recently received faxes are going directly to the fax machine.

Have checked the windows fax server software,

Did the following:

Checked if recipient email id was correct.
Ensured fax service was running

Dont know more to do as have not much exposure on it.

You can dial to that number and check in the fax server console that the call is answered or not.

If call not answered make sure your fax modem working and automatic answer (ticked) is enabled.

I tried calling up client on fax number, call did not go through. Was monitoring in Fax Console Manager. Call went to fax machine and client received fax on the same.

Checked in Device Manager and it showed the fax modem as working, no exclaimation marks next to it. Asked client to physically check wire, they said it was plugged in.

Went to the client site next day, for a site visit, found that the everything was plugged in fine. All cables connected. Noticed that the fax machine and RJ11 cable from server to phone point were both connected to the phone point. Removed both cables and splitter, plugged the RJ11 from server into the phone point and then plugged the fax machine into server using splitter. Called up BT and they told me how to make server Primary Fax receiving device, and the fax machine as secondary (backup) device from console manager software.

Tested it and it worked. as they wanted.

    So closing case.
