I recent moved my user docs from a Microsoft 2003 sbs server to a 2008 Standard server.
It seems that now I am have some permissions issues, User are able to access all there data directly with out issue. The condition that I am seeing is:
A user is in excel and chooses FILE>OPEN>MY DOCS
They will receive an error that says that they dont have permission the there my docs folder.

If they go into the my docs directly and open the file in question it opens without issue but if I choose save as I get the same permissions issue.

Seems like the My Documents link is pointing to the old Windows 2003 location rather than the location used by Window 2008.

For the user try checking the registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

to see if the Personal value is pointing to C:\Users\UserName\Documents

If not, try changing the value accordingly, reboot the server and see if that corrects the issue.
