keeping default sonicwall LAN ip
Posted on 2012-09-06
I am setting up a new sonicwall firewall for a small business -- and when I took a look at current firewall config, it appears the admin who set the firewall up originally left the LAN port configured as the default, 192.168.168.168.
The current DHCP server onsite (they use windows and don't have the fw hand out leases) is handing out the range of 192.168.168.16 - .99, and the router setting (in the microsoft DHCP server) is set to the 192.168.168.168 address, so everything seems to work fine, networking .
What I am wondering is what are the negative implications of using 192.168.168.168 instead of the traditional 192.168.168.1 as the gateway?
It seems to work now but I have a bad feeling about it. Will this somehow limit the address pool if we need to expand it?
Thanks for your insight, experts!
