Read Audio Mute Status

Hello,

Am using VS2010 /vb.net on win7. I can mute and un-mute using System.Runtime.InteropServices / "user32.dll", but I would like to be able to read the mute status so as to know if its currently muted or un-muted.

Any ideas?
