Our company is considering moving our public drives to a SharePoint site.  As part of this project, how would you determine the size requirements for the SharePoint database?

Look at the "estimate content database storage" section.

The following link would give you a brief idea of sharepoint database size

It depends on how many document versions the library accepts.

I suppose the size of one document on disk will be the same in sharepoint, but if a document can have 10 versions, then the size of the content database could increase to 10 times the size of the public drives.

Close this ticket out.  The article I gave is the official formula from Microsoft on estimating storage.
