Need network messaging program
I'd like to do internal messaging to users on our local network, something like AOL instant messaging except it can't go outside the office because of HIPAA restrictions. Is there a good software I can run locally to do this?
Try LanTalk NET
http://www.lantalk.net/
They says that LanTalk is: HIPAA friendly instant messenger.

You could send Messages Securely, Strictly Within Your Local Network using lan-messenger
http://www.winpopup-lan-messenger.com/
Also you could use; net send {name | * | /domain[:name] | /users} message

In my office I use for Corporative Messaging Openfire http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/openfire/

If you search for "LAN Messaging", you'll find there are a number of options out there. I, of course, like the free ones, but depending on the need and the finances there are many options.
