    Do you just want to backup/clone your installation? In that case, clonezilla will work just fine. Or is there some other requirement you have?

    Are CloneZilla and ReLinux   similar to Acronis ?

    Actually, I want to take a snapshot or image of the entire hard drive

    I want to take a backup of  couple of directories with some individual files
    for such backup,
    Do you recommend  remastersys  ?

    Secondly, need to know some terms and ways of remastersys;
    what do they mean by   "live iso"  ?

    isn't "Backup" in remastersys similar to clonezilla ?

    What does the "Distribution"  mean and do exactly ?

    Thank N Advance,  these options confusing me a bit..

    Accepted Solution

    From thier site it states 'remastersys' will create a Live CD / DVD of your Ubuntu box.
    And you can select to backup only data
    They have a limitation of 4GB, thus your Live PC can only have 4 GB or less.

    Here is the site for Clonezilla, test it out and see what it can do.
