Error
I get this error using the wizard to build a filter based on a field in a form... I don't get this in other Databases... am I missing something?

According to your goal, it sounds like you will have the form opened. Correct?

does the form CPV_STD exists ? is it the correct name of the form?
is the form open?
is the form being used as a subform?

also try doing a compact and repair, then repeat the process of creating the query

What is the name of the form you are on? If there are any subforms involved, what are their names?

Yes, CPV_STD exists and it's the name the form I need, the form is not open. No Subform is involved.

If the form is not opened, access can't get a value from it. How would it know which record to look at?

fitalianoAuthor Commented:
Even if the form is closed I should not be receiving that error, I should see an empty query.

My goal is to filter the record returned by the query based on a value I select from a form

I use compact and repair, I also imported all the objects into a new DB

Double check that you have the name of the form and the name of the field on the form spelled exactly right.

If that doesn't help, maybe you could upload a sample database with just those objects (and no confidential info), and we'll take a look.
