WSUS - question

When i installed WSUS i accidentally selected unnecessary products and it queued up my disk space and i do see those on critical update lists. I went back and unchecked the one that i don't use. Still i don't see that cleaned up. Can some one let me know how to clean this.

I did try Server Cleanup Wizard and no luck.

Open WSUS console and choose option  - run server cleanup wizard to clean.
approve the updates first, and then run the cleanup wizard.  They will then be declined and removed, if they are in unapproved status then they will stay there waiting for you to select an action on them.

I did the following steps.

1) Correct any settings above or disapprove any unneeded updates.

2) Close any open WSUS consoles.

3) Go to Administrative Tools – Services and STOP the Update Services service.

4) In Windows Explorer browse to the WSUSContent folder (typically D:\WSUS\WSUSContent or C:\WSUS\WSUSContent)

5) Delete ALL the files and folders in the WSUSContent folder.

6) Go to Administrative Tools – Services and START the Update Services service.

7) Open a command prompt and navigate to the folder: C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools.

8) Run the command WSUSUtil.exe RESET
When i went to WSUS and checked the updates.

catalog information still same. I still see same screen as before. please see attached screen shot.

is it may be the catalog is not updated properly.
You missed the screen shot.
Please see attached.

I didn't even select Microsoft Office product but i do see that on the list of critical updates.

It didn't clean up existing catalog.

I never approved. I just configured WSUS recently.
in the product and classified section i didn't select Microsoft office, however i  noticed that update related Microsoft office still showing up.
please see attached files.

Here is what happening.  When i go to WSUS server its says my test server need 60 updates.

However, when i go to the test server its says windows is up to date and there are no updates available for your computer.

Have they finished downloading to the WSUS server?
Did you run a detection on test2 wuauclt /detectnow ??
i ran wuauclt /detectnow  on test 2.

where i do see these update are still downloading or finished downloading.
In WSUS console click on the name of your WSUS server(Left hand pane) and you will see in the righthand pane a download status: "Updates Needing files"
is that what you are mentioned about

as you can see this screenshot, its is not even related to servers.

The reporting within WSUS should be able to tell you everything you need to know.

Also wuauclt /detectnow tells the client to query WSUS for updates, but it doesnt tell WSUS it's Status until every 22 hours by default(This can be changed with GP)
