Failing over Exchange 2010 Databases

We are running Exchange 2010 SP1. We have the following set up:

1 DAG split between London and Paris. DAG has 6 servers, 3 in each site. We have about 80 databases altogether. Two of the servers are lag servers.

At the moment, the 80 active databases are distributed evenly between four servers

All DB's are on their Preference1 server

We need to perform some hardware maintenance on LON1, so need to redistribute the DB's evenly between LON2, PAR1 and PAR2, i.e. the DB's on LON1 need to be activated on their Preference 2 server.

What's the best way to do this?

- Simply reboot LON1?
- Use a command in Powershell?

Any advise would be appreciated!

Yes once you restart the Server LON1 .... you will see that it automatically goes to second server .... but if you want there you can simply move all LON1 to LON2 till you restart and then move back once its backup.

Get-MailboxDatabase -Server LON1 | Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase -ActivateOnServer MBX3 -MountDialOverride:None

- Rancy
