MSDTC - Unable to connect to remote coordinator

Hi

I am unable to connect to my remote coordinator (Server 2003 Enterprise 64bit based) using my windows 7 laptop. My laptop is on the same domain as the server. I have been googling for the past 2 days with no luck.

I know the issue is not server related as I have a few other pc's connected in the same way. I have already tried numerous things such as disabling windows firewall, allowing the msdtc service as an exception, adding ports etc with no luck. I have also come accross numerous posts which advise to start the Remote registry service - I also tried this with no luck.

I have attached some screenshots of the settings of MSDTS and the error in which I am recieving on my laptop

Any Help will be much appreciated

Thanks

Are the people who can log on using the same credentials? Should "SERVER03" be "\\SERVER03\" ? Try using the IP address for Server03 - and also try pinging it from the command line on your laptop!

Hi

Yes thats correct the people who can log on are using the same credentials.

I have also tried the IP address with no luck - Same error. I have also tried ping server03 from my laptop and all pings are succesful
The piece of software you're using reports that the remote host "does not exist". That implies that it isn't that piece (or layer) of software that is at fault, but it's interpreting an error message from some lower layer.
* Are the successful users also using Win7 [OS problem] ?
* Have you tried getting one of the other users to log in to the network with their credentials on your machine and try to access the server [rights problem for you] ?

Hi Mike

Thanks for your response. The other users .who are able to connect are also the same version of os as me. Windows 7 professional 64bit. I dont think that there is a issue with the os as its a brand new laptop i have just purchased which is a dell. There is also one othrr using experiencing yhe same problem as i am and that is also dell laptop. Could it be a imaging issue perhaps from the manufacture?
