Trendmicro worry free 7 error installing on workstation

Successfully installed on SBS 2011 but having problems on win7 x64 workstations. Trendmicro error message saying "cannot uninstall software which may prevent installation" Is there anyway to identify which software may prevent the installation. The worksations currently have Avast on them but I disabled it before I attempted the Trendmicro installation. Attempted install from the internal website, when that failed I downloaded the installer from the webpage with the same result. Any ideas?

I would not only disable avast I would unistall it. As it may be conflicting with the trendmicro product you are trying to install. It is rarely a good idea to have to malware/antivirus software packages installed on the same computer that is why they always recommend you to uninstall the antivirus products first before installing the other one. often who tool will conflict with the other. If avast is still causing problems with trendmicro after you unistall avast you may need to run a clean up tool to fully remove the tool.

Thank you for the suggestion and the link. Complete removal of Avast was the next logical step. But I had hoped that I could identify the offending software because if the trendmicro will still not install then I am left with reinstalling Avast. This is a professional office environment and must be operational Mon. morning. My original intent was to get the Trendmicro protection first and then uninstall the Avast. I will wait for additional comments regarding the identity of the offending software, if that is not possible I will accept your suggestion as the solution. Thank you again.

Having two antivirus applications on your computer can cause conflicts especially when installing them. You can check the event viewer to see what the application is causing the problems. It looks like trend micro is trying to unistall an antivirus product but was not able to do so so the installation of trend micro could not continue. Trend Micro would not try to unistall other software on your computer.

It turns out Avast has a protection feature that you have to maually disable before even their own removal tool will work. Thanks for the help. I was able to get the Avast removed and the Trend Micro installed correctly from the server so problem solved. I will check the event viewer tomorrow and see what kind of footprints were left behind. Now the only remaing problem is the workstations can no longer open anything on the sharepoint site except the Trendmicro installer page but that is another question. Thanks again.
