I have a user who works on this excel  spreadsheet report every Monday. For certain boxes, each week when the user tries to change the numbers, the commands are incorrect (i.e if she hits delete, the whole line goes up, if she hits arrow to the right, the cursor moves left, etc)

any ideas as to what this may be?
its only  happening for this certain excel spreadsheet

Have you isolated that it's that spreadsheet, and not that user's computer?  Some viruses play around with keyboard mappings and make them do random things, and maybe only for a brief time. This should effect any applications, but not necessarily.

If that's not the issue, then is there a macro on the spreadsheet that some programmer playfully put in?

If that's not it, I would suggest copying the contents of each worksheet to a new Excel Workbook. Don't copy the worksheets though, as that would bring over code.
