Is there a way to make Firefox add-ons available to all users of a machine?  I am talking about the .xpi file.

    You could use the PortableApps version of Firefox and put it in the Public folder so everyone has access to it. One thing to keep in mind though is that you'll also have the same user profile settings etc...

    If you don't want the same user settings, first set it up on the LAN with all the add-ons you need, and then just copy it to the user's profile somewhere. That way he'll still have his private settings.

    There is also an add-on, "febe" which you can use to make a backup of profiles and/or extensions, and once that add-on is installed you can import those backups again using that add-on.

    Another Product is a tool called "mozbackup" (google for it). This is a tool you can also use to backup firefox and thunderbird profiles, but it isn't an add-on.
