DAG - Cluster Name & Internal Emails Issue

Dear all,

I am currently having a couple issues with my DAG configuration.

We have recently setup a DAG but the outlook clients are currently targeting Node One instead of the Cluster Name?

We can send external emails from the DAG but internal emails are failing to send/receive?

Thanks,

Lyon

Yes, you can run CAS on the DAG members. You need to create a CAS array, which is a hostname that would map to the IP of your load balancer. Follow the link I posted above for instructions.

Hello,

Are your DAG members also running the CAS role? If you have multiple CAS servers in a site, you need to create a CAS array. This blog post talks about how to configure a CAS array. It talks about using NLB but you will need to use a hardware load balancer if your CAS roles on installed on your DAG members - http://howtoexchange.wordpress.com/2009/12/16/configuring-client-access-array-for-exchange-2010-walkthrough/

Clients do not connect to the DAG. The DAG is only for mailbox replication.
The clients connect to the Client Access Server role.

Ideally you should have an RPC Client Access Array. If you don't have one, configure it now. Even if you are not intending to setup a hardware load balancer.
Then you will have to update all of the clients to use it, unfortunately that means repairing the profile on every one manually.

JJ or Simon, is it possible to set-up CAS on the DAG members and put a hardware load balancers in front of the servers?

Thanks,

Setup a CAS Array on two new front-end server with NLB.

Thank you for all your help.
