winmail.dat issue

One of my clients is having trouble sending an e-mail with an attachment to one of their clients - but it only seems to be a problem sending to this one client as far as we know... the client receives the e-mail with a winmail.dat file instead of the original attachment.  Additionally this only happens when sending from two of the four computers on the network.  They are all running Outlook 2007 SP3 with a MS Exchange account type connected to Comcast's mail server (Comcast is hosting the Exchange account).  All computers link into the same shared mailbox as well.  I have run the winmail.dat fix from MS on all of the computers as well.  I have also made sure that all of the computers have all of the MS critical updates including MS Office updates and that they are free from malware and viruses.

Can anyone help with this?  Thank you.

acseven - Really good article - thanks! - but I think it still applies to the sending side - not the other "receiving" side - was this the link you meant to post?  Thanks.
Hi,

You have a part there that mentions when you have the issue with only specific users:
"Disabe Winmail.dat Stubbornly Going to Particular Recipients No Matter the Default"

This is still on your side, not the receiver.

Is the other party using Outlook as well?

Also, the receiver can always open those attachments with a tool such as this one:

Cheers
Ok, I was able to edit contact and set it to plain text only - and it is working now!  Thank you!  BTW - had to delete the entry off of the MRU (cached) list 1st so that it would use the contact.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make outlook 2010 default to only HTML or plain text for all e-mail... I found one place in the options, mail, compose - and set it default to plain text - but it does not seem to work.  Thank you
Is this what you're looking for?

Go to Tools / Options / Mail / Message Format. Set the option "When sending messages in Rich text format to Internet recipients:" to either HTML or plain text.

The problem is that not all mail clients can read Rich Text. I recommend you set this to HTML so that your message will look better. Pretty much every mail client can read HTML.

Thank you!
Glad I could help ;)
