I just bought a Cisco Linksys EA4500 Router. I want to upgrade my cable modem D-Link DCM-202. Is it necessary to upgrade my modem? If yes, what is considered the top of of the line option available for my home network?

Isn't it too late to ask after you bought it?

Despite that, I'd advise you to change D-Link for a Linksys as I have no good experiences with them - they quite often lose connection when there's a surge or too many clients on the wireless.

Cisco looks like top of the line for a home network...

@JuraJUQU, why is too late? I bought a wireless router, and my question is asking about a modem! Two seperate devices! You obviously did not read the question.

lol. I did but I don't think you're using a modem to connect to the internet...if you have ADSL then you have a router, becauce modem is dialing a number and has significantly lower speed.

aaah, right. apologies. now I know what're trying to achieve - you just want wireless.

no, you don't need to change it or upgrade it. from Dlink's website, this product is still live and there are still updates made for it
